What to send, and when

Early on, red roses say the thing plainly and there is a reason the cliché survives. Further in, specificity beats convention: a favourite colour, the flower from the first trip you took, something built to a room you both know. An apology wants to be generous and unfussy rather than clever.

How much is the right amount?

Enough that it is clearly deliberate. A single beautiful rose, wrapped and tied properly, reads as considered. Six supermarket stems read as an afterthought. The gap between those two is about twenty dollars and an enormous amount of meaning.

Getting it there

A workplace is a good idea if you want it witnessed, and a bad idea if they would hate that, and you know which it is.

The part you don’t see.

It is made the morning it goes out.Not assembled in advance and held. Tied by hand, that day, for that order.
The stems are chosen from what came in that week.Which is why no two are ever quite the same, and why the good ones go early.
Your card is written out by hand.Your words and your punctuation, exactly as you typed them. The flowers last a week. The card tends to end up in a drawer, and stay there.
We do not send anything we would not be happy to receive.If it is not right on the bench, it does not go on the van. You hear from us before it does.
